Size Guide

Great Boot Store Size Guide

Get the right fit the first time. Cowboy boots fit differently than sneakers and dress shoes. Use this guide to find your best size and width.

Quick Sizing Guide

✓ Order your regular shoe size in most cases.

✓ Between sizes? Go up ½ size.

✓ A small amount of heel slip (¼"–½") is normal.

✓ Wide feet? Consider EE width.

✓ Exotic leathers may fit tighter than standard leather.

How Cowboy Boots Should Fit

  • Boots should feel snug across the instep when new.
  • Your heel should have slight movement (¼"–½") while walking.
  • Your toes should not be pressed against the front of the boot.
  • The pointed tip extends beyond your toes by design.
  • If your foot feels squeezed at the ball of the foot, choose a wider width or larger size.

Important: A little heel slip is normal in a new cowboy boot. As the sole flexes and the leather molds to your foot, the slip usually disappears.

Breaking In Your Boots

Most leather boots require a short break-in period.

  • Slight stiffness is normal.
  • Leather softens after a few wears.
  • A snug boot usually becomes more comfortable over time.
  • Do not size up simply because the leather feels stiff when new.

Width Guide

Width is just as important as length when choosing cowboy boots.

Quick Width Rules

  • Leather stretches slightly, but not enough to fix a boot that is too narrow.
